We handle land clearing in Mount Pleasant for wooded lots and back corners that brush has taken over. Mount Pleasant, the fourth-most populous municipality in South Carolina, counted 90,801 people at the 2020 Census. Our land clearing service takes out the brush and saplings and leaves the trees you want to keep. When we finish, the ground sits under a layer of mulch.
We do that clearing with forestry mulching on a Kubota SVL compact track loader with a mulching head. The head grinds brush and saplings where they stand, and the mulch stays on your lot. The Cooper River runs between Mount Pleasant and Charleston, and the Ravenel Bridge links the two. From our Charleston base, that bridge puts all of Mount Pleasant within reach.

Our lot and homesite clearing opens up a wooded lot so you can see the ground before you build. The mulcher grinds vines and saplings, then works in close around each tree you mark to keep. Once the thicket is gone, you can lay out a driveway or a house site and see how it fits. Snee Farm, Belle Hall, I'On and the Old Village all sit inside our Mount Pleasant range.
Back corners go first, as vines and saplings creep a little closer to the house each year. Brush clearing pushes that growth back and leaves a clean line where the yard meets the woods. We also free fence lines buried in vines and briars, so you can see and reach the fence again. The work runs the same off Long Point Road or Rifle Range Road as it does out along SC 41.
Under the oaks and pines, underbrush can close in until you cannot see into your own woods. We mulch the brush and small stems beneath the canopy and work around every trunk you want to keep. You get shade and open ground under the same trees, with a mulch layer where the thicket stood. That work reaches from the Hobcaw area, between Shem Creek and the Wando River, to Park West and Dunes West.
The town limits have pushed 24 miles northeast from the Old Village along U.S. 17, nearly as far as Awendaw. Anywhere along that stretch, we can mulch overgrown trails and access paths open wide enough to use again. We mulch the understory on our family's own 327-acre tract in the ACE Basin near Yemassee every year. Your Mount Pleasant lot gets that same work, with the same rule that the good trees stay.
The Town requires approval to remove residential trees 16 inches or more in diameter, measured 4 1/2 feet up. Pines are protected at 24 inches and up, while sweet gum and several other species are exempt. Trees in special buffer areas, critical areas, easements or rights-of-way may be protected regardless of size or species. Our mulching leaves the big trees standing, but check with the Town before clearing near a buffer or easement.
Removing a tree without approval and a displayed permit brings a fine to the homeowner and the tree removal company. If the clearing is tied to construction, tree removal is approved during the building permit process. A vision corridor cut through the vegetated buffer toward wetlands or tidelands needs approval from Engineering and Development Services. Our Lowcountry land clearing permit guide covers the state rules, and this is general information, not legal advice.
